Suxs isn’t. Well don’t just throw the disc away though – because there might be a chance, that you will be able to salvage the files stored in the disc!

Introducing the free CD Recovery Toolbox software for windows. (works in Windows 98 – latest Windows Vista Sp2).

This is a mini tool which tries to copy content from the damaged disc and apply some error correction to extract data stored in it to the hard drive. You can then, copy back the data to a new disc. The CD Recovery Toolbox Free tool not only has a complete set of data recovery features, but is also user-friendly and convenient.

The program interface is designed as a step-by step wizard, where the user has to perform a single action on each page of the wizard. The wizard makes the use of the tool very simple and convenient even for a beginner.

CD Recovery Toolbox Free is absolutely free. Anyone can install it on the computer and use the program for an unlimited time. This fact is one of its main advantages over the rival software. Moreover, the functionality of the tool is equal to that of most paid software. Check it out here!

If you are an open source developer at times, you may want a simple tool that can wipe off those .svn folder from the source. I normally do that, if the svn repository is too screwed up and clean up function isn’t all that perfect. I will normally checkout all the source file. Perform a .svn clean up, delete the svn repo folder and start all over (checking in again). However, apparently there’s lack of a tool in windows which is to do this easily other than going through command console thingy.

Fortunately, I found a good solution for this. A mini tool which sticks to your Windows shell’s context menu. All you need to do is to select your svn source folder and right click. Walla then, just select Remove all .svn

This free mini tool known as SVN Cleaner can be found here. Last but not least, if it get posted here – it simply means IS GOOD STUFF!

Sometimes, when you transfer a bunch of folders with pictures on it ; you will notice a bunch of space wasting Thumb.db – This is of course thanks to Windows XP default images thumbnail database. These db files does eat up space and is useless if you are in other operating system or web server. Best way is to get rid of it. During the weekends, I was asked to transfer a website to another domain hosting. I found out I was downloading a bunch of these useless thumb.db. This is so mind numbing. Ahhh well time for some clean up!

I found out this cool tool which does just that, cleaning up mess lol. Just assign folder with all the image crap inside. Run this mini tool. (does not require installation) .Click Search once, it’s done search simply click clean!

To get this software, you will need at least DotNet Framework 2.0 installed, if you have Windows Vista you can straight away double click and fire away.

Yet another post on handy Vista, XP friendly software which allows you to mount an ISO file to a virtual drive excluding malware, rootkit stuff and adwares. Yup, just plain simple freeware that does that.

This tool will be useful for those that like to create images of the DVD/CD and stored them as ISO files (backup purposes). These ISO files are made by software like imgburn / nero burning rom and etc. Originally, ISO files are made to be used as source disk reference for DVD/CD burning software.

With Virtual Clone Drive installed all your ISO files will be somewhat executable, simply double click on em, and the software will then mount a virtual drive that emulate exactly like the original DVD. Quite useful for those whom prefer simple drive mounting to checkout contents in ISO files.

Virtual Clone drive is available free for download here.

1. TerraCopy
This tool is a life saver. Don’t you just love the awesome speed of when you are copying huge files over the network and to removable files (you should try that in Vista). Sometimes, when we are doing it over USB 1.1 it gets even worst. Have no fear TerraCopy is here.

A mini tool that attaches itself to your explorer, with Terracopy you can copy and paste files faster, you will be able to modify buffer speed and even pause a file transfer.

2. Unlocker
Another great tool to have, the unlocker!…what does it do? Well, I’m sure you sometimes, you get an annoying message of file unable to move, relocate or delete, because a process is using it but unfortunately, you don’t know which process is that? Annoying isn’t it?

Well this tool does just that, identify which locked file and the tool frees it from the dying glutch of the process. FREEDOM!!!

3. CPUz
When, it comes to updating your firmware and bios (especially those planning to upgrade to Vista or Vista SP1) and do not know your motherboard bios version and processor clockspeed. Use this cool tool. It tells you the system clock speed, processor details, motherboard details, bios version and etc. All in one exe file.

You can then use the details to google for updates. Nice

Most of all, these software are ALL FREE!
