WIFI Problem Iphone App to PC?
Recently, I’ve discovered a problem connecting some of my apps to PC. I have two of them which uses WIFI connection to make a connection with my PC.
- Files – Allows user to transfer files like documents, pdf, movies and such to your iDevices like a usb drive. Transfer can be made by using iTunes or Wifi.
- Mobile Mouse – is a cool app which allows user to connect to PC / MAC and use your iDevice as mouse. This is done using WIFI connection of course.
I then noticed, once I upgraded my router, iOS and the app itself, everything starts to fall apart. Firstly, I attempted these method of resolving the connection.
- Updated my firmware IOS of my IPhone and IPOD Touch
- Rebooting and Restarting the device.
- Making sure, I got the latest app updated via iTunes.
It still doesn’t seems able to connect to my PC via WIFI. Well at least, I eliminate the probability that the device is causing the problem. Later then, I tried troubleshooting from the PC side. I tried the following method :-
- Disabling my firewall (Windows 7 firewall)
- Disabling my antivirus (Kaperky AntiVirus)
- Disabling and enabling Bonjour Services
- Ping my iDevices
First two method, doesn’t seem to work. The device just isn’t talking to my PC. However, I found out an interesting symptom from the fourth findings. I wasn’t able to ping my iDevices at all.
This could only be one thing – must be the settings of my router itself.
Indeed my router does come with some extra security settings below the security options which prevents my iDevices from connecting to the PC via WIFI.
If you own this model of Aztech Router DSL1015EN WIFI modem/router – read further as you need to disable your WPS Wireless Protected Setup. Connect to your modem router, select under Advance, click on Wireless and then, Security. Disable the WPS settings. Once doing so, the modem/router will restart for a while and then, you should be able to ping your iDevices.
