Getting BSOD?
What is exactly a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), a term that PC users used when the screen of the computer suddenly comes out in blue with all the error messages displaying.
Help…help, I’m getting BSOD and it’s driving me crazy (most common shouts in forum and tech blogs)
In my experience using Windows as my main operating system, the main cause of BSOD comes from two main contributing factors
- Drivers corruption or not installed properly
- Hardware faulty somewhere
Today, I’m gonna write about what I usually do when there’s a BSOD and it’s somewhat related to drivers.
- After the BSOD usually your PC will restart and you may get the chance to restart windows and enter the operating system for a while. Find out what’s causing the BSOD crash. Use this freeware to detect the error correctly. It’s called WhoCrashed. Run this software and download the debugger pack. It will then point you on which drivers last failed.
- Once identify is the driver (for my usual case is always my display card driver). Perform a driver sweep process. The inherent problem of windows is that, whenever you install a new drivers, sometimes part of the driver files never got replaced properly even at safemode. You have to use a driver sweeper to "cleanly" remove all traces of drivers and reinstall a new one.
- Phyxion.net’s Driver Sweeper is the tool for you. Just run it and choose "the driver" you need to clean sweep. In my case was my crappy nvidia driver.
Once, fully removed restart pc and reinstalled back a newly downloaded driver from Nvidia / ATI / Whatever graphic card you are using.
Good Luck!
