12 Subtle Things You Should Know about IPOD Touch

For those thinking of buying IPOD Touch, here 12 cool subtle things you should know when you get this fantastic device. I call it subtle because – it is a kind of user experience thingy.

  1. IPOD Touch Backlight - Bright enough to lit your way in dark areas. If you have firmware 2.0 upgrade with flashlight app you will know what I mean. The keys input pad itself are made within the touch screen – you basically don’t need to find your way through in the dark.
  2. To switch to quick music mode – double tap on home key. You can do this while your IPOD is on lock mode. I find this feature very very useful.
  3. The song pauses automatically, when you pull off the earphone jack – allowing you to resume back the music when you plug it back.
  4. Smooth fade out when you are about to sync with ITunes. Well at least you don’t an annoying windows prompt when you are working with IPOD.
  5. There’s lots of application you can get in AppStore. For those who are hesitating in upgrade – PLEASE DO It’s WORTH IT. To switch off an Application, hold home button for 7 seconds. To reboot in case of bug crash or hangs - hold home and sleep button together for a few seconds.
  6. To perform a system switch off – hold sleep button for few seconds – a slider will appear to switch off. To turn it on back, hold sleep button for 2 seconds.
  7. IPOD Touch Wifi Safari seems to be faster than Iphone mainly because, it is without much of the add on / complex features. Both Iphone and IPOD Touch will have a free wonderful application to remote (App name Remote in AppStore) control Apple TV and ITunes using WIFI.
  8. Switching off your wifi while playing game will boost your battery life span far alot more.
  9. Hearing music in mp3 doesn’t drain much of your battery. Best to place it in sleep mode by pressing sleep button. The music will still continue to play even the IPOD is in sleep mode. It only turn off the screen. You can quickly toggle sleep mode to lock mode by tapping sleep button twice.
  10. IPOD Touch does not have disk mode or what so ever. IPOD have a way of encrypting music with their album art and labels of the music – making application like iphonebrowser unable to locate the music whereabouts. But you can locate, backup and restore music easily using this wonderful software called TouchCopy. Fastest way to get music to your IPOD – is by using automatic cd ripper ability to rip your cd to mp3 and automatically sync to your IPOD Touch. I LOVE THIS FEATURE :)
  11. The screen is scratch proof – I’m serious about it. However, it’s a fingerprint magnet. As for the back metallic surface, is scratchable – but you can remove some of it using those car polisher.
  12. You need to convert videos into mp4 format before it can be view in IPOD Touch. You can do this easily by download videora software here.

Last but not least, If you ask IPOD Touch owner, what is the difference between other MP3 / PDA device out there? They’ll tell you almost the same thing “I can’t really describe it…it a user experience and it’s FUN!”

probably, i didn’t do serious testing with rings and harder surface. But, im sure u cant get permanent scratches from keys inside your pocket coz, i tested it myself everyday lol. Still then, no harm in getting the case. Btw, the grip on the headset is good too, i dropped the ipod a few times before at my office while hearing it, the headset still maintain it’s grip on the ipod

Hello, I’m currently working for a magazine that is running an article on the virtues of the iPod versus the Zune. I was hoping to use the picture above in the article. We’ll give proper creds where due, but we need your agreement before we do so. Do we have it?

    Thanks
