My Ipod Touch 1.1.4 JailBreak Experience
Jailbreaking Ipod Touch is save nowadays, and you could always restore it back with iTunes. However, once you are jailbreaking it, you might want to do some research prior to that before actually doing it.
Look for,
- Latest Jailbreak software such as ILiberty, Ziphone (during my time I was using Ziphone 3.0)
- Make sure your Wifi is available at that time.
- Get some FTP software (optional) or download Iphone Browser to connect to your Touch via cable. (You need this to transfer other files format to Touch other than ITunes). Touch does not have disk mode so, yeah it will not appear mounted as a USB drive in explorer.
Ok, looks like if you got all the above, you are all set to go. For Ipod Touch users, best to upgrade it to 1.1.4 firmware via iTunes.
- Leave it connected (via usb) and iTunes syncing to it or just leave it with Ipod active. Quit iTune and start up your Ziphone 3.0
- Click on JailBreak option. The process is automatic, during this time do not unplug your IPod or start iTune or anything to your system. Leave it as this. Off the screensaver crap from windows as well.
- You will start seeing bunch of text appearing in your Ipod. It’s a normal process.
- Once, Ziphone successfully penetrated the iPod system, a Zoro picture will appear in the screen. Still let the process run till Ziphone says’s it’s done.
- If you failed or the Ziphone crashes or unfortunately, your iPOD freezes for too long, unplug it and restore it back to firmware 1.1.4 . Make a emergency boot hold HOME and your POWER button for 7 secs while connected via USB with ITunes. ITunes will detect IPOD needs restoring. Then, Jailbreak again.
- If you do successfully jailbreak it, the ipod system will return to locked state, and as usual slide the slider to unlock it. You will see installer and Ziphone’s blog appearing there.
- Follow the guide here, to get your base setup properly. http://www.ipodtouchhacks.com/ipod-touch/detailed-instructions-on-how-to-jailbreak-114/
- For me, BossTools is optional, is just relocating the fonts to give you more space for your IPOD. I only need a IPOD for reading ebooks, text and play some GBA emulator games. My case I have enough space for that.
- Now, this is the part which is most frustrating. The net is full of old information regarding firmware jailbreaks, which are confusing at times. During installing package, best to leave your pod connected to your pc usb (wifi download and install can take alot of power). Goto Settings, set Auto-Lock option to NEVER. Autolock kills the wifi connection sometimes and you wont’ be able to install things properly.
- Notice : You will have a bug because you JailBreak with Ziphone, which is you can’t use file browser tool to access your IPOD. In Installer, add source. http://i.unlock.no make sure is all small capital and you wifi available. If you do this correctly, you should be able to see you source added a category called Unlocking Tools.
- Once, doing that proceed to Install tab and All Package, look for Ziphone iBrickr Fix. Sometimes, the server is overloaded with people requesting downloads and you might not able to access it. If that happens, reset the installer, hold HOME key for 7 seconds till it pops out to the springboard later, try again. Once you do that and package is installed.
- For those, using iPhone Browser and have installed ZiPhone iBrickr Fix, congratulations you have access to your IPOD via cables.
GSPHONE 2.0.0 (GBA Emulator for IPOD/IPHONE)
- If you are thinking of playing emulator in this IPOD. Heed my warning! DO NOT create folders using IPHONE browser, this is the main reason why you get into permission and save problem in the first place.
- IPHONE browser creates folder under root ownership (GSphone needs the ROMs folder under mobile owner & root is NOT the same as mobile owner thats why your chown fails). This guide is for people that uses Ziphone 3.0 ; 1.1.4 jailbreak and has created folders with IPhone Browser.
- If you already did, delete those folder - backup those roms somewhere first. What you need is a Mobile Finder and a terminal(VT100 terminal emulator)
- Set your Mobile Finder settings to view Show Hidden Files, Show “..” Entry, and System File Access. This will open up all folders for Finder to traverse.
- Now we only need, to create a special folder for our GBA Roms with the correct owner and permission. Goto terminal. You gonna have to make these folders yourself. In terminal, traverse to the var/mobile/.
- View where is your current folder terminal is in by command ls. You should be in mobile folder by default. ls should return you Library/ only.
- To create Media folder to store your GBA roms, type command mkdir Media
- Traverse inside Media folder. Type cd Media
- Create ROMs folder. mkdir ROMs
- Traverse inside ROMs folder. Type cd ROMs
- Create GBA folder. mkdir GBA
- Use mobile finder to check the permission and each of these folders to 755. Click modify when folder are selected to see the permission (make sure they belongs to mobile owner). 755 means this Owner get Read/Write/Exec. Group and Everyone gets only Read/Exec. Check all the new folder you created.
- Once, done. Head over to Iphone Browser and refresh var/mobile folder. Upload your gba files to GBA folder. Your GSPhone should be able to save state now.

Hi,
I recently Jailbroke my iPod 32G. It was working good for the first while, I had all the emulators and games, but after a while my iPod started having a little loading circle around the middle of it. And would keep restarting. So I restored my iPod. I went to put ziphones jailbreak back on it. It was working fine, but my cat unplugged the cord. Now all that pops up is a black screen with only white letters and numbers. As much as I restart it it only goes back to that screen and the computer doesnt detect it to restart it. What do I do?
Please help,
Thanks Alot,
Tyler.

ok looks like u have a problem interrupted jailbreaking. You have to restore your ipod to the firmware I presume you are using 1.14/1.15? I’m not sure whether it helps or not but, you can try this method below.
Connect it to the pc again, run iTunes (we are not jailbreaking this time, but restoring it) do a reset by pressing down home and power button for 7 secs. Then, in iTunes look for your ipod and click restore.
